Speak English
And how much will this add to the cost of healthcare? This is a perfect example of why people in the United States should speak English and a reasonable argument for English being designated the offical language of this country. Speak as many languages as you like. But if you live in the United States, one of them should be English. Aside from all the philosophical arguments, the practical consideration of language is having a common one that reduces problems and expense in everyday communication. One more time, how much is this going to cost?

HHS Initiative to Assist Hospitals in Effective Communication
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today announced a new program, Effective Communication in Hospitals, to assist hospitals in meeting the communication needs of individuals who do not speak English as their primary language (i.e. are limited English proficient) or who are deaf or hard of hearing. The department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) will collaborate with state hospital associations and their members to develop and implement these programs.
