Trackback Post Review
This is a review of trackbacks received for Monday March 12, 2007. The reason for the review is to summarize the blogging discussions among those participating in todays’ open trackbacks at Linkfest Haven Deluxe. As stated on the website, “because if nobody comes, it’s not a party.”
Our first trackback was from Conservative Cat and is commentary on saving video of today’s issue oriented movies as they will look as silly in twenty years as the eighties offerings look now. We’ll categorize this as a perspective on culture as it related to public issues. We left a comment.
Number two in order of appearance is the Florida Masochist with their knucklehead of the day. This particular knucklehead is a judge who has a propensity for jailing court stenographers who are late with transcripts. This is contrasted with the court’s upholding the rights of a convicted child rapist over the rights of a court stenographer. We left a comment.
Overtaken by Events displays pix of what we understand to be a protest located nearby. The most outrageous and despicable behavior the pictures witness is one protesting moron without the sense to properly honor our nation’s flag. We find this particularly distasteful and criminal. We left a comment.
The story on the Ninth Circuit at Conservative Thoughts reminded us, as we commented, to bone up on all things Ninth Circuit Court. The quantity of absurd rulings coming out of this court gives credence to the phrases “judicial activism” or “legislating from the bench.” Ok, so we fell asleep on this one.
We’re a little pressed for time today, so we’ll get back to what is the next trackback from The Florida Masochist on part two of Knuckleheads a bit later.
We also left a comment at Maggie’s Notebook } Conservative Blog regarding her post on “France: Third in World Beauty Contest.” Go figure, the US was treated with disdain in this survey and yes, academics are providing some of the analysis so be patient. Stop in at Maggie’s for the whole story and check our comment.
Right Voices almost sounded sympathetic on the left. We emphasize the word “almost”. But the point is taken. To almost cause David Obey to meltdown and nearly have the homes of politicians under siege, something is certainly amiss in the ranks of the left. Yes, we left a comment at Right Voices also.
Next up is the trackback from Speckblog on the global warming debate and a forum attended last week. Some good points are made on the topic but we leave it to your judgment as to conclusions to draw, if any. We say that only because the overwhelming opinion at MoreWhat.com falls in the middle of the debate. We don’t like ignoring or dismissing all environmental concerns and we don’t like the sky is falling tactics either. A little reason and to error on the side of caution may calm the pursuit of solutions.
We found with the trackback from Faultline USA that some more time is needed to have a take on this topic. Point is, as mentioned earlier, we are a little pressed for time today and this post needs a second read or two. Wouldn’t want to comment without fully understanding the situation. A little extra care is usually required to digest a very detailed post with references.
Big Dogs Weblog draws attention to the Russian connection in the Iran controversy. I like using that word ‘controversy’ when I think of how the Brits pronounce it. A god read and yes, we left a comment. Issues at the international level share a characteristic with national issues in this country. They simply take too long to resolve and it would be nice if the principals in either case could find an expedient method for reaching the answers and have those answers last for a while longer than they usually do.
There are a few more to get to, but the reviews will have to continue later when I can free up some more time. I will just say that the combination of trackbacks suggests that everyone involved is nearly on the same page or simply that it is refreshing to have a broad covering of current issues being addressed in this part of the blogosphere. A hearty congratulations to all those contributing today and most days for the valuable and worthwhile posts on issues in the national debate. And no, we’re not sucking up to anybody. Much to our occasional lament, we don’t do that sort of thing here. On behalf of others who contribute to MoreWhat.com, I am simply, for what it’s worth, praising thoughtful dialogue. Gotta go.
