Speaking Out for Immigration Enforcement

United We StandThe tide is turning, the public is waking up and I couldn’t be happier about it. The illegal immigrant protests with demands for ‘their rights’ and sporting foreign flags have receded. Demands to control the borders, stiffen national security and hold employers accountable for illegal hiring practices are on the increase.

The distasteful notion that those who violate federal immigration laws may gain benefits for their actions is having the expected effect. Americans are coming to their senses understanding it is not mean-spirited to expect those seeking citizenship to follow the rules. Assuming that every person who enters this country illegally is simply seeking a better life has finally been understood as a risky assumption that cannot be accepted. If you want to be a citizen of this country, prove it by following the rules, waiting your turn and allowing the process to provide some degree of security, validation and sane limits to immigration.

Illegal ImmigrationContrary to opponents of secure borders and immigration, it is possible to reverse the trend of illegal immigration by providing adequate penalties to employers who hire illegal immigrants. A financial disincentive, adequate to the task, will dry up jobs for illegals and they will, over time, deport themselves when their job market dries up. Many illegals interviewed in the last year express an intention to come here to earn cash and return to Mexico. Those remaining illegally can be assumed to have an intent to continue to abuse the system.

Any way you slice it, strict immigration enforcement is required as well as strong national security and border control.

Radio Hosts Enlisted in Effort, Which Is Aimed at Rousing Area Activists Before Week of Lobbying

Organizers of today’s demonstration say they plan to focus on three issues: improving border security, opposing amnesty for immigrants living illegally in the country and enforcing U.S. laws, including those against hiring illegal immigrants.

In the Washington region, activists said, many residents have strong negative opinions about illegal immigration but are fearful of being labeled anti-Latino if they speak out. The activists also said people tend to become more energized by problems in their communities, such as loitering laborers or crowded housing, than by national policy debates.
