Congress: Just Another Embarrassment
Everyone knows the approval rating of President Bush has been in the tank for months. For someone with only a third of whoever they poll for such ratings approving of his performance, he is not powerless. He is also not giving up on victory in Iraq or supporting the troops. The same cannot be said of Congress. That is why Congress has a lower rating than the President.
The other pressure on their approval ratings can be explained by their refusal to protect Americans from the risk of open and uncontrolled borders. So put your damn race card away as well as that bleeding heart membership card. If you don’t, your simply falling victim to the rhetoric of corporate whores and the special interest of profiteering and exploitation. Which includes those manufacturing sympathy on behalf of illegal immigrants who have their own selfish reasons for violating the law and any sense of fair play to those who enter this country legally or are waiting to do so. Both parties are responsible but the Dems are the current majority and still pandering.
This is what the claim of a New Direction for America has given you since the midterm elections. Only one of the Democrats touted pieces of legislation has been enacted into law. That’s right, just one. As of May 16th, 2007 only the lonely Page Board bill that was merely political cover for everyone in the House for the Foley scandal. They will tell you they met their own 100 hour agenda by passing about a half dozen bills in the House. Unless the bills also pass in the Senate and get enacted into law the entire effort is meaningless. And even if passed into law the value of such bills are at best an unknown and at worst still meaningless without subsequent action, enforcement or analysis.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have done nothing but weaken the government by continuing their personal attacks on President Bush and the GOP. In response the President and the GOP have done little but defend themselves against the onslaught. GOP members of Congress have done little to establish an antidote for the venom of the fringe left being supported by Reid and Pelosi.
This is what the Democratic leadership of the Senate posts on their website to convince the public of their value:
Democrats to Move Forward With Energy Bill…
Reid and his followers claim they will address the energy issue after immigration. Their immigration scam is nearly complete and utter nonsense. And two energy on price gouging and biofuels are as useless as their stand on immigration or global warming.
Senate Democrats Committed to Comprehensive Immigration Reform
Again, their immigration policy panders to illegal immigrants and does nothing to control the problem. The claim
that it ’strengthens border security, reunites families, creates tough and smart workplace enforcement, and brings 12 million people out of the shadows of our society’, is rhetoric for appeasing those who violate current law including employers. Reuniting families means letting immigrants, legal or illegal, to get a pass for themselves and everyone they know. Adding the word ’smart’ after tough, when addressing employers hiring illegals, means they will get a pass for violating the law every time. And bringing 12 million out of the shadows means amnesty for everyone.
There was no effective enforcement for immigration control in 30 years, but if this type of ‘reform’ is passed it will be enforced because it gives every illegal in this country what they want and denies American citizens the protection they deserve.
The next five items on the Democratic Senate leadership’s website address their surrender view on Iraq. As much as this has been covered in the news there should be no need to explain it further. The Democratic party and their followers will never support a war to defend this country, period. Roger Hedgecock was substituting for Rush Limbaugh yesterday and made a great point. If you really believe what you say, Democrats, have the courage to act on it. If you want to end the war, do it now. Don’t play around and wait til March or whenever and hide behind the false statement you support the troops. If you want to end it, end it now. Pull the money, end the war, accept the consequences for your actions without political cover from a claim you support the troops or this country.
How long before the GOP will recover from being neutered last fall and begin to represent the American people in unison is unclear. If more actions like that of Chuck Hagel and others are allowed to continue, Americans may have to look to a 3rd party for respite from the two party system. There has been no stellar performance in recent memory to indicate otherwise.
