How much Clinton support is movng to Obama?

the Clintons
An earlier post here entitled ‘Not All Democrats Are Created Equal’ highlighted reports of Democrat defections from Clinton to Obama. The title was selected to emphasize that not unlike other voters Democrats were just as likely to change their support from one candidate to another as the elections draw near. Huckabee may demonstrate that on the GOP side. Obama may be having that effect on the Democrats side. But the voter highlighted in the article referenced in this post presents another demographic. An older voter who is described as replacing a Clinton bumper sticker with one for Obama while explaining she did not know about Obama before now and gets the warm fuzzy feeling for his values and background.

That she further suggests that Oprah can convince anyone to vote for Obama seems to nothing more than a guess. And while she doesn’t say it, one could suspect her new found appreciation for Obama was directly influenced by Oprah or possibly Michelle Obama. The appeals were emotional and the lady bought it as she admitted indirectly by saying the discussions ‘touched my heart.’ Not a reassuring point in defense of the voting public and this could partly explain outcomes that differ from the predictions of conventional wisdom known to happen in elections.

Hillary Clinton wobbles as her backers turn to Barack Obama
Sarah Baxter, Washington

The presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, the Democrat frontrunner, is facing a wave of defections by supporters to Barack Obama, as an aura of “inevitability” about her nomination fades.

With Oprah Winfrey, the talk show host and Obama enthusiast, challenging former president Bill Clinton for star power on the campaign trail, the coronation of Hillary has been put on hold.

In the past weeks Robert Reich, former Clinton administration Labor Secretary posted an item on his blog not flattering to the Clintons yet he described Hillary as a friend. He was concerned about her inability to tell the truth. There are others connected to the Clinton clan who are working for the opposition. It may be more common than people think but in this case and at this time such reports cannot be received well by the Queen of Cringe.

Former “Friends of Bill”, who served in the White House in 1990s but defected early on to Obama’s campaign, are not surprised by the drift away from Hillary.

Betsy Myers, a White House adviser on women’s issues - and sister of Dee-Dee Myers, Bill Clinton’s former press secretary - is now chief operating officer for Obama’s campaign and responsible for much of its organ-isational prowess.

There is no shortage of reports about HRC and certainly that includes many comparisons between Obama and Clinton’s ability to attract the votes of women. The few specific voters in the latest posts here not included, the fact that Betsy Myers was an adviser on women’s issues in the Clinton administration and now supports Obama might cause you to ask a question or two more about why particularly as it relates to women’s issues.
