Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama and Terrorist William Ayers, et al

The Weather Underground

Directed by Sam Green and Bill Siegel
US, 2003, color, 92 min.

Weather Underground (Weatherman)Thirty years ago a group of young American radicals, The Weather Underground, announced their intention to overthrow the United States government. Fueled by outrage over racism and the Vietnam War, the group waged a low-level war against the government throughout much of the 1970s—bombing targets across the country they considered emblematic of the violence for which the U.S. was responsible around the world. Ultimately, the group’s clandestine network managed to evade one of the largest manhunts in FBI history. In this new Oscar-nominated documentary, former Underground members speak publicly about the idealistic passion that drove them to “bring the war home” and the trajectory that placed them on the FBI’s most wanted list.

Is there anything to be made of the connection reported between Presidential candidate Barack Obama and William Ayers? Any time this kind of situation develops during a political campaign one expects the target (Obama in this case) to quell the disturbance by being in a position to deny the relationship without being refuted and move on, case closed. It does not appear as though that happened. Since the subject keeps popping up regularly it may be helpful to present readers with a handy and brief collection of resources to shed light some light. The following excerpt is from The Chicago Sun Times.

Who is Bill Ayers?

[member of] an anti-Vietnam War group that protested U.S. policies by bombing the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and a string of other government buildings

Today, Ayers and his wife — fellow former Weather Underground fugitive Bernardine Dohrn — live in Hyde Park, where they moved after surrendering in 1980. Federal charges against the two were dropped because of improper surveillance, so they avoided prison.

How’s that again? Bill Ayers (and his wife) were members of the Weather Underground and bombed government buildings and avoided prison. Then there is a piece from WaPo that is noticeably lenient toward Obama regarding the ‘connection’.

Obama’s ‘Weatherman’ Connection

washingtonpost.com > Politics

obamasBoth Obama and Ayers were members of the board of an anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 1999 and 2002. In addition, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001, as reported here. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the trendy Hyde Park section of Chicago, and moved in the same liberal-progressive circles

Obama spokesman Bill Burton noted in a statement that Ayers was a professor of education at the University of Illinois and a former aide to Mayor Richard M. Daley, and continued:

Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous.

What is ridiculous, Senator Obama, is your excuse that you were 8 years old when the crimes took place. One of the culprits, Bill Ayers, avoided prison for his admitted involvement, the facts are widely known, and on at least one occasion, when you began your bid for State Senator, you were at his home making preparations for that bid. The video below is another description of the situation but this blog is not familiar with the producer(s). It does however provide information with which one can perform more research.

Obama once visited ’60s radicals

By BEN SMITH | 2/22/08 1:09 AM EST

In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious and unrepentant figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.

911And the final reference above is from Politico that supports the items layed out in the others here. Obama and Ayers taught at the same place, worked on the boards of the same organizations and helped Obama begin his political career. And Senator Barack Obama denies there is anything to this. So this is the guy that some people want for President of the United States. This is such an outrageous display of arrogance and poor judgment no one with a lick of sense should support this candidate. Barack Obama is obviously a fraud. How much evidence do you need. Bill Ayers said he did the bombings and wishes he could have done more. He also made incredibly un-American and inhumane comments about the events of 9/11. What else is Senator Obama prepared to lie about? Worse yet, in what else is Senator Obama involved that we do not yet know? Do you really want to find out later? Dismiss him now before something goes terribly wrong.
