Fred Thompson 2008?
It is easy to like Fred Thompson the actor. It is no more difficult to like Fred Thompson the Senator. So Fred Thompson for President is not a big stretch. The article from the Washington Post, below, points out some interesting notes on the history of the former Senator. The article is believable and should stand unless evidence to the contrary becomes available.
The statement that Fred Thompson keeps his opinions on social issues to himself is refreshing. Too much of what politicians discuss is telling everyone else how to live. But the lobbyist history for Thompson is a little unsettling. The comparison with contrasts and likeness between Thompson and McCain seems unnecessary. The search for a Reagan clone is also of little value.
But then that is my opinion. Feel free to submit yours.

Thompson’s Politics Much Like McCain’s
Fred Thompson fervently backed the Iraq war, railed against an expanding federal government, took stands that occasionally annoyed his party and rarely spoke about his views on social issues during his tenure as a senator from Tennessee or in his writings and speeches since leaving office.
