Just so we're clear, my choice for the title of this post was to make a comparison between a pardon for Nixon based on his story and a pardon for two border agents with their story. But your comment focuses mainly on the shortcomings of the Bush Administration as does a good portion of my brief post. His interest in amnesty for illegal aliens puts into question his real reasons for other choices he has made an attributed to lofty goals.

To me, the open borders crowd is all about greed. Employers that want cheap labor. Politicians that want cheap votes. Retailers who want more customers and on and on. Not to mention the illegals who simply want what we have and don't mind breaking laws to get it. I have more than 15 million reasons to oppose illegal immigration. And I'm real tired of the old worn out mantra, oh the poor babies just want a better life.

It wasn't "they" who pardoned Nixon. It was one decent, honorable man who did it. Gerald Ford had more genuine concern for this country in his little finger on his right hand than President Bush, from his shameful refusal to defend against mass invasion, seems to have in his entire body.

*sigh*

"Any country that harbors or aids terrorists is our enemy" eh? (Paraphrasing Bush's famous pronouncement.) Then why isn't Mecca a radioactive parking lot?

"...do jobs Americans won't do." Sure. Swift plant raid aftermath (hundreds of AMERICANS got jobs).

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

And how exactly is persecuting border patrol agents for doing their jobs within the laws and BP guidelines as set out in statute and BP policy "faithfully execut[ing] the office of President of the United States"?

And how, exactly, is lying, baldfaced, brazen and openly, about pushing for amnesty for violators of our border, for identity thieves, etc. (as President Bush has repeatedly done), honorable, decent or moral?

What good the sacrifice of our military personnel in the GWT (no, not "Global War on Terror--making war on an emotion is just silly; "Global War on Terrorism makes sense) when this administration does damn all to protect our borders from mass invasion.

And remember: the 9/11 hijackers were illegal aliens. Let's give them retroactive amnesty, Mr. Bush. *spit*

(Note: I tried and tried diligently to give Bush a chance on this issue. I even voted for hinm a second time hoping he would re-think his stance as mexico's lapdog, but my patience is gone.)

It's not.
