Immigration and Calderon
Mexican President Calderon will not impress many by describing US border policies as hurting commerce between the United States and Mexico. That is unless he is willing to admit the main export from Mexico to the US is illegal immigrants.
President Calderon conveniently blames the US for the massive flow of ‘immigrants’ from his country to ours. So he is blaming the US for the Mexican economy, the immigration problem and that American border agents are not manning enough booths at the designated border crossings. Has he ever stopped to think the border agents are a little busy running down illegals everywhere but the desginated border crossing?
Connecting the Colorado River to farms in California, according to Calderon, will cutoff groundwater to Mexico and hurt their farmers. Funny, didn’t hear them mention that when Arizona’s water policies had California pipe water from the North to feed Southern California in the 80’s. If memory serves, the Colorado was involved then too.
Calderon’s own relatives have moved to the US and he doesn’t know their status. There’s a good chance the US government doesn’t know their statur either if they came here the typical way. So maybe Calderon’s objections are just a little biased. He doesn’t want to say who they are. Either it is a fabrication or he doesn’t want them to be appreheded and sent back. But he claims in other reports he wants all Mexican’s to return to Mexico.
And last but not least, Calderon favors same-sex marriage but claims to prefer the traditional family. Ya, whatever.

Mexican President Criticizes ‘Absurd’ U.S. Border Policies
By Manuel Roig-Franzia

MEXICO CITY, March 16 — Mexican President Felipe Calderón said Friday that U.S. border policies are marred by many “absurd” paradoxes that hurt the Mexican economy and force more Mexicans to migrate illegally to the United States.
In an interview en route from Mexicali, Mexico, to Mexico City on his presidential jet, Calderón criticized construction of more border fencing and accused U.S. border agents of slowing the flow of commerce between the countries by sometimes failing to staff enough crossing booths.
