Immigration: Enforce the Laws We Have

Illegal ImmigrationCongress knows the majority of the American voting public is opposed to open borders, amnesty for illegal immigrants and unlimited visas for American jobs. HR4437 was a political smoke screen to give the appearance that Congress was concerned about pathetic border control, corporate abuse of illegal immigration and special interest influence toward increases in H1B visas. They knew it would die in the Senate.

The other part of the smoke screen is politicians believe new immigration arrivals will increase their voter base. Problem with that logic is both parties think they will get all the votes. There is no reason to believe new immigrants, legal or illegal, will immediately translate into a vote for either party. How about most immigrants come here for what they want, not what you want. And businesses want either category of immigrant or visa holder for dirt cheap labor that will be complaint-free so as not to jeopardize temporary status. And the rest of America doesn’t want them taking jobs some claim Americans won’t do.

The pro immigration groups are largely comprised of those who favor the status quo or no borders, no security, no regulations except amnesty, no limit immigration and visa approvals. We want what you have, so let us in or we’ll come in anyhow. Our first action to prove our loyalty is to violate federal law and any other laws we don’t agree with to get what we want.

The absurdity of open immigration, unlimited visas, lax border control and related pathetic enforcement is only trumped by the fallacy that we need more immigration legislation. We already have the legislation. The problem is it is rarely enforced. Check the reams of paper containing US Immigration Law. Check the historic and pathetic record of enforcement. No disrespect to ICE but the small quantity of illegal immigrants or aliens rounded up in raids over the last few years will never remove all illegals.

It is time for absolute verification of citizenship and removal off all those who do not pass muster. And if you blog, you might consider joining Blogs for Borders. We did. And so did others. There’s a link in the sidebar. Consider it your little way of countering the special interest letting greed put our country in danger.

Immigration groups tap into war debate

LOS ANGELES — Frustrated by Congress’ lack of progress on immigration reform, pro-immigrant activists want to tap into growing anti-war sentiment this spring by combining the two issues at dozens of rallies nationwide.

Many organizers are concerned that debate over the Iraq war has overshadowed immigration reform, and some immigrants are increasingly opposed to the conflict as more foreign-born troops are killed or wounded.
