McCain Rejects GOP Iraq Measure

Sen John McCainSenator John McCain’s position on amnesty was a surprise and troubling. But his staunch support of the troops is both understandable and appreciated. His previous maverick status is alive and well. He will fool ya on one thing or simply make you crazy but his patriotism and support of the military is also alive and well.

On that one point alone one could say John McCain is Presidential material. But his campaign management and distancing needed financial supporters is just the opposite. Some reports indicate his campaign staff withdrawals were motivated by fund raising disagreements. Not knowing what was said a guess would be they expressed you cannot win a campaign without adequate funding.

It was also reported in various news accounts that McCain was missing fund raising opportunities and siting Senate responsibilities as the cause. If that is to be present to fight Harry Reid’s current attempt at surrender, we should salute you John McCain.

Sen. John McCain, his presidential campaign weighed down by Iraq, on Monday rejected a proposal from two fellow Republicans demanding a new war strategy that would limit the role of U.S. troops.

McCain dismissed the proposed legislation by Sens. John Warner of Virginia and Richard Lugar of Indiana as “the same strategy we were using, which failed, which I criticized - train the Iraqis and withdraw.”
