Media Bias and Plain Bad Journalism

US Democrats with big edge in campaign’s last week
By John Whitesides, Political CorrespondentWASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats enter the final week of the
fight for Congress with a commanding edge over Republicans, who
hope a major voter turnout effort and shift in focus away from Iraq
can limit their losses.
In the Reuters’ piece above it is interesting they mention “recent
polls” but give no specifics. They continue with the theory that the
Republican voter turnout is the key to who wins. Seems like just
another way to say if more people vote for Republicans then they
will win. You know, like any election.

Iraq war’s unpopularity sours many voters on the
Republicans’ swagger
WASHINGTON — They strode into Washington talking tough
and wearing cowboy boots. One warned of faceless terrorists
who “drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night.” Others
linked homosexuality to bigamy and incest. Together, they
unapologetically froze out the minority Democrats on Capitol
Hill.

Above the headline uses “many voters”. Further in the article
the phrase “some voters” attributed to “analysts say”. The only
analysts referred to by name are a professor from Umass and a
former McCain staffer who now works for the Progressive
Policy Institute.
On the next page the author regurgitates points on several races
that may no longer apply and forms his arguments with a couple
of academics listed as political scientists who also give no basis
for their assumptions. This is journalism in America.
