Mitt Romney: Constitution-Blessed Candidate

Mitt RomneyWith a critical eye toward the validity of historical analysis, there is no conclusion drawn or suggested by this blog on the article below. The title is something of a tease but the content is another compelling case for getting off the Mormon bashing on Mitt Romney. The intense scrutiny and frequency of challenges to his candidacy based on religion have diminished. But it never hurts to drive home the point it should never have been a criticism in the first place.

The conclusion drawn here earlier dismissed the complaints as desperate politics in search of anything to attempt a smear on a candidate with little downside. Occasionally, due to the media and other sources repeatedly pounding the press or airwaves with selected stories, you will find reruns of statements on this blog. It is an attempt, in some small way, to offset the unfair focus by others on non-issues. And their attempt to make them issues. Part of the problem with politics in the US is too much attention given things that don’t matter. That might explain why issues that do matter have difficulty finding timely, effective solutions.

Back to the importance of the article presented below. It is nice to see others considering reasonable evaluations of what should or should not matter in a Presidential campaign. On the topic of religion there have been obvious references to the nonsense complaints as invalid simply by the omission of other religions being critiqued. That is to say, no other candidate received so much attention about their preference of faith. Maybe good sense is returning to the 2008 campaign season as this topic receives less focus.

Mitt Romney: Constitution-Blessed Candidate

Nothing suggests a Mormon should never sit at the head of the table.

This is America. If someone does not want to shake hands with a Mormon, so be it. We are free to be rude. But Founder Oliver Ellsworth explained what the Founders expected fair-minded Americans to do, and Republican presidential aspirant Mitt Romney surely is a Constitution-blessed candidate.
