Obama Moves from Hope and Change to Fear and Loathing

Obama changeHope and change were in the promise enough Americans bought to elect President Barack Obama. Now Barry’s hope to get whatever he wants in Washington has caused him to change to the old-fashioned fear tactic. At a speech to the Democratic Caucus this week he returned to his community organizer roots to fire up the partisan crowd. And the liberal MyDD agrees by stating he ‘painted the grim economic picture with the starkest of brushes’. But they call it his ‘A’ game. So now the left is admitting fear is their stock in trade. But Krauthammer’s piece below reminds those who fawn over Obama that the change he promised is an illusion.

So there you have it. And of the three references below two have decidedly liberal leanings with the third subject to debate. There is a growing trend in the MSM to support falling support for Obama in approval ratings by presenting a surprising number of stories not complimentary of Mr Obama. But it is unlikely opposition in the Senate will reign in the same insanity that produced overpaying for TARP assets as recently reported by quashing the porkulus monster being created by the Dems. That opposition includes Dems but is mostly GOP. So if Obama is winning why is he appearing so angry? Could he actually be mad at himself for making so many mistakes already?

The Fierce Urgency of Pork
By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, February 6, 2009; Page A17

“A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe.”
– President Obama, Feb. 4.

Catastrophe, mind you. So much for the president who in his inaugural address two weeks earlier declared “we have chosen hope over fear.” Until, that is, you need fear to pass a bill.

And so much for the promise to banish the money changers and influence peddlers from the temple. An ostentatious executive order banning lobbyists was immediately followed by the nomination of at least a dozen current or former lobbyists to high position. Followed by a Treasury secretary who allegedly couldn’t understand the payroll tax provisions in his 1040. Followed by Tom Daschle, who had to fall on his sword according to the new Washington rule that no Cabinet can have more than one tax delinquent.

by Charles Lemos, Fri Feb 06, 2009 at 03:05:12 AM EST

After seeing the Republicans and the chattering class go on extended run scoring points left and but mostly right about tax cuts this and tax cuts that, the President brought his A-game to Williamsburg, Virginia delivering a fiery and often partisan speech to the House Democratic caucus reminding his audience of the urgency of the hour noting that this “is the moment for leadership that matches the great test of our time.” The President painted the grim economic picture with the starkest of brushes.
