So what’s new about a Democrat pandering to labor unions? And this particular labor union is an even more entertaining example than other Democratic panderings. A public or government employees union and a tradition of tax and spend liberalism is being offered by Obama as well as Clinton and Edwards. It is a no brainer that a government employees union would prefer to cozy up to the party that believes in big government. For the union that means more government programs, more government jobs and more government paychecks at taxpayer’s expense. And the worst part of it is the retirement and benefits for these employess rivals Congressional perks and that of the NEA. All on the shoulders of the ‘people’ they claim to represent.

Labor unions are pro-open borders and amnesty also. They have seen such great decline in their membership since the sixties that the greed of open borders and ignoring the rule of law is another stand on which the Dems and unions see eye to eye.

Obama courts Iowa union activists

Democrat Barack Obama is telling union activists he would walk a picket line as president if organized labor helps elect him in 2008.

The Illinois senator also criticized President Bush’s policies toward working people.

‘We are facing a Washington that has thrown open its doors to the most anti-union, anti-worker forces we’ve seen in generations,” Obama said in remarks prepared for delivery Saturday night. “What we need to make real today is the idea that in this country we value the labor of every American.”

Obama was scheduled to speak to Iowa’s largest union representing more than 20,000 state workers.
