Obama’s Crew Lost in the Wilderness

It is just great that someone in the MSM finally addressed the fact that Obama criticized both John McCain and President Bush during the campaign for stating economic fundamentals were strong even though the economy was in a steep downturn. A post published here earlier focused on this topic in light of the President’s little press event with Paul Volcker. After taking advice from Rahm Emanuel on not wasting a crisis which convened a continuous blitz of doom and gloom messages from the White House Mr Obama is apparently listening to the opposition that the negative approach is not helpful. Now the Messiah is trying to convince the public that investing in the US is a good thing. All upbeat and smiles is the strategy from the past week. But what will it be in the weeks to come?

There is also a video available here on Christina Romer’s take on government spending versus tax cuts where she equates the two as equally viable. Yet in her interview with David Gregory on Meet the Press she focuses on the New Deal and defers to Obama and Geithner on what comes next. Undoubtedly she was coached before appearing on the show and whether deferring to the President or Treasury Secretary was commanded or volunteered the net result was a continuation of no one knowing what the Obama Administration will do next including the Obama Administration. Can’t say it enough. This administration is amateur hour.

Larry Summers on ABC’s This Week with you know who inspired no more confidence that the White House knows what they’re doing than Romer on Meet the Press. According to Summers who along with Geithner was directly involved in events leading up to this mess the government is helpless to stop AIG from doing what they will with taxpayer dollars that are supposed to ‘ bail them out.’
US for sale
If you heard Katty Kay’s take on the matter Sunday morning much should be clear to you now. The rest of the world may blame the US for the so-called global economic crisis even though everyone out there is responsible for their own due diligence and still bought bad assets packaged as securities for the same reason…… GREED. Katty Kay said Britain and other EU countries that have socialist programs providing health care and education (what there is of it) do not view the situation as dire as some in this country since they have these two basics covered. How bright is that? If you lose your job how long will it be until you lose your house or cannot afford food, etc., and the health care and education become a moot point? The problem with that thinking is why the Obama Administration is pushing socialism. If they can get all Americans to think that way rather than the nanny staters already in their party or voting for it then they’re half way home.

What is becoming more clear is the relative insignificance of party politics in the current economic conditions. Most people probably don’t care who gets credit for the fix as long as there is one and soon. The GOP is credited with abandoning their principles while in the majority that ended recently and the Dems are doing nothing to improve on the natural tendencies of the polls to favor the newest majority after the GOP fell from grace. All that energy wasted for public consumption to win political favor from voters should be quietly redirected to the sort of backroom deals politicians know how to orchestrate. They should honestly decide on a plan to repair the damage done and equitably decide who gets credit for what and when secretly. Once the economy is cookin’ again they can go back to politics as usual.

White House and Congress, are you listening?

The doom and gloom approach from the current White House has been replaced with more rosy tones in recent days after they learned the public was not impressed. Pelosi’s suggestion of another porkulus package has been withdrawn for now based on public sentiment. They may actually be listening. But some suggest they are doing what they claim they never do….. initiating and responding to polls.

They might be hearing but I’m still not optimistic on the outcomes.
