Opposing Amnesty on the Left: Take That Kennedy
If you are rarely in favor of anything Democratic politicians have to say, take heart. There are at least two Democratic Senators who have it right. That is not a typo. The two Missouri Senators, McCaskill and Bond are on the right side of the amnesty issue.
If more Democrats would side with McCaskill and Bond they could do much to improve the political landscape. If you begin anew to reassure the American people you will do the right thing, they will respond in a positive fashion. The right thing here is to oppose amnesty as McCaskill and Bond do. How’s that for a little sanity from the left side of the aisle? Refreshing isn’t it? There may be more Democrats that hold this position. It may take some time to develop a complete list. But this is great news for a party that since November 2006, has shown nothing but fringe left pandering and a do nothing majority in Congress.
With the poll out this week showing a growing opposition to amnesty and these two Senators expressing the correct stand for opposing amnesty, there is still a chance both parties will come to their senses and understand protecting this country and the rule of law is more important than politics.

a PR from Kit Bond on illegal immigration:
BOND: TOP PRIORITY IN IMMIGRATION BILL IS TO INCREASE BORDER SECURITY, STRENGTHEN ENFORCEMENT
Sunday, May 27, 2007
ST. LOUIS, MO – U.S. Senator Kit Bond today issued the following statement on the immigration bill currently before the Senate:
“Priority one is increasing border security and strengthening enforcement against illegal immigration. I have supported cutting off the flow of illegal immigration with more border barriers, detention facilities and enforcement agents; and we can do more.
“I do not support rewarding those who broke the law to get here or stay here, especially with a path to citizenship. Those who broke our laws and flaunted our rules do not deserve the ultimate gift of U.S. citizenship. That is at the heart of amnesty and I oppose it.
“Last week I voted to strip the bill of its amnesty provisions. However, that amendment failed. And so at the end of last week, I proposed the next best thing: cut the path to citizenship. My amendment (#1255) strikes at the heart of the bill’s amnesty provisions by ensuring that we do not award citizenship to the 12 million illegal aliens unlawfully present in the United States.
“Millions of legal immigrants have made this Nation great, and more can be allowed to enter this country in a legal and orderly manner. I support legal immigration, but I will oppose efforts to reward illegal immigration, especially with a path to citizenship.”
