Romney, Iowa and the Conservative Base
It is worth mentioning again that Mitt Romney’s current stance on abortion may not be entirely political. More than one person has reconsidered their position on the issue in light of reactions by pro-choice advocates to the recent Supreme Court decision.
Facing the challenge head on and addressing understandable questions on his current abortion stance is what we find a positive quality of Mitt Romney. The item below describes a recent visit of Romney to Iowa. It is also interesting to note that he stresses the importance of voters attending a straw poll in August. A gesture that supports an earlier report that Romney is working on solidifying conservatives as this effort is not just about him but conservative candidates and Iowa.

AMES — Mitt Romney ended his Wednesday Iowa trip in Ames, the site that could determine the fate of him and his fellow Republican presidential candidates this summer.
The former Massachusetts governor urged the estimated crowd of 450 people at Hickory Hall in Ames to attend the Republican Party of Iowa’s Ames Straw Poll event, which is slated for Aug. 11. With the frontloading of the presidential nominating calendar, the straw poll could serve as a winnowing event for some GOP presidential candidates.
