Romney’s immigration stance at odds with state GOP leaders

Mitt RomneyUnless you are interested in reading something that is not there, this report seems off base. In the first paragraph they briefly layout Romney’s immigration position and then try to say it is at odds with state GOP leaders. The getting back in line part after returning to the country of origin may be the confusion. If you are illegally in the US, return to your country of origin and do it the right way by getting in line and following the rules. The Senate amnesty package gives amnesty immediately and requires all sorts of things that will probably never happen. Like returning to the country of origin after getting amnesty. A few more details and discussion needs to be included here before concluding that Mitt Romney’s immigration position is at odds with anyone.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said he ‘’strongly opposes'’ an immigration plan also denounced by his party’s conservative wing, yet his public statements suggest he actually agrees with major tenets of the proposal in Congress.

The record shows Romney repeatedly has demanded stronger border security. A campaign ad calls for tamper-proof identification cards. And in a debate last week, he said illegal immigrants need to go back to their home country and ‘’get in line'’ before they can become citizens.
