TTLB’s Stock Just Went Up
A few weeks back there was a post at Texas Fred’s that was responsible for a significant amount of discussion on blog rankings. The specific topic of this discussion was The Truth Laid Bear (TTLB) and a mixed bag of opinions about the ‘portal’ and the value of its ranking system. The first volley was launched by Texas Fred and many participated as well as NZ Bear from TTLB.
Personally I found the discussion valuable. And it holds even more significance for me today after my quick morning review of Technorati this a.m. I have been more critical, although not any posts here that I recall, of Technorati and all the blog measuring site wannabes. To some degree I believe they are all of limited value. But it is what we have and as such the satisfaction anyone receives from it is likely based on what have you done for me lately.
Technorati’s site redesign or change of strategy in general appears to me to be growing pains. Are they settling the matter without admitting guilt of the flaws in the system or do they just want to evolve into a Google or Yahoo? Don’t know, don’t care, but any time we spend here to take advantage of any positive benefits for this blog are certainly of questionable value.
Which brings me to the title statement that TTLB’s stock just went up. At least it did with us. Not that our opinion matters to TTLB, but after the previously mentioned blog discussion it is fair for us to say our opinion was above average and just got a boost. Are we accurately represented at TTLB? Don’t have a clue but if forced to guess it could be argued we are rated too high. The same goes for Technorati and any other blog ranking site. All we’re looking for in such sites is longevity and ease of use for a little lift to our blog traffic. We have some of that. Any improvements will be welcome.
Your comments are also welcome. Blog on.

Robert Scoble crashed the party before the ink was dry on Dave Sifrey’s invitation to check out the redesign of Technorati.Dave Sifrey on the redesign:
As I’ve blogged about before, the world has changed. Whereas folks using Technorati a couple of years ago were predominantly coming to us to search the blogosphere to surface the conversations that were most interesting to them, today they are increasingly coming to our site to get the 360 degree context of the Live Web - blogs of course, but also user-generated video, photos, podcasts, music, games and more.
